Fascinated by time, The Wandering Mind travels again.

Yesterday when I taught the poem Psalm of Life in my 12th class just thought that Time is  such a fascinating concept. It existed before us, lives with us and will live on even after us. A magic of this universe that none can harness or own. We have all heard Sands of time, sand clock etc. Ever wondered why we associate sand to time and not mud or pebbles or water ?

Try holding up a fist full of sand in your palm. It just slips out, flowing free and on ut's own free will. Mud or pebbles would remain in our palm. But that definitely is not the nature of time that is untamed and wild and free and moves on and on forever.

The sand that slips out ...Thats our past and future... lost and not in control.
Whatever little remains inside our palm is our Present. In our control and to be used in the best possible way.
Hold it tight and build with it castles of Dreams, Love, Achievements and Happiness.
Very soon it will fall off too to join the past and we grab yet another handful.
The cycle continues on and on . Many hands grab the handful. Yet there is plenty for all.

" Lives of great men all remind us

We can make our lives sublime,

And, departing, leave behind us

Footprints on the sands of time;" ... Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
